I love this hearty and sweet, tangy Irish Brown Bread. It is delicious plain or with butter. If toasted, the fragrance of the oats comes out. The best part is that it is easy! No kneading or rising required. Mix the ingredients and bake. Fresh bread cannot be any easier. The rising comes from the baking soda being activated by the buttermilk. You can see the dough rising action in the picture where the top was slashed.
It is the perfect accompaniment for a St Patrick’s Dinner or actually anytime! I might make this for Easter brunch.
